The second biggest city in the county of Harris, Texas which is located in the southern part of Houston is the city of Pasadena. It is populated with about 152,968 residents according to the year 2007 census. Established in the year 1893 by John H. Burnett, the place got its name after Pasadena, California where Burnett thought the plants growing in the area are the same with the first mentioned place. According to the Texas Tourism Office website, the meaning of “Pasadena” in Spanish is “land of flowers”, even though in the Spanish dictionary there is no such term. Initially, the place was believed to be inhabited by an Indian tribe known as Karankawa who settled all the way to the Gulf coast area. Pasadena city is close to the spot where the last battle of Texas Revolution happened. At present, the city asserts to be the biggest municipal fire department volunteer all though out the United States. Every year the city celebrates the Strawberry Festival in memory of its history when Clara Barton gave a million of strawberry plants to help the flood victim rise against the calamity. Several schools, libraries and infrastructures are also available in the area. Some movies are also filmed in this city like the Urban Cowboy which is starred by John Travolta.
