The Woodlands is a well planned neighborhood in the county of Montgomery, Texas that has a population of about 584,418 according to the year 2006 statistics. The community is situated 28 miles north of Houston downtown together with Interstate 45. Although the improvement is more focused in the Houston City’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, a small part of The Woodlands stretches towards the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Conroe and Shenandoah. It started as a provincial development neighborhood but because it has draw attention to some corporation, several establishments and businesses are constructed in the area. Some campuses that are present in the community are the Chevron Phillips, Baker Hughes, Hewitt Associates, and CB and I. The Woodlands also experienced massive damage when Hurricane Ike struck the area on September 13, 2008. It knocked a lot of pine trees in the areas and broke houses and cars. At present, the community has several public and private schools, town center theaters, and malls which serve the people in the area.
