Tomball is one of the cities in the county of Harris, Texas that has an estimated population of 9,100 according to the year 2000 statistics. It was in the year 1800 when a community was founded in this area because of the fertile soil which acquires enough rainfall that is good for farming and breeding animals. But in 1906 the engineers of railroad line have seen the area as a good site for a train stop. They say that the location of the city which was on the borders between Texas’ low hills and the Gulf’s flat seaside plains is a perfect site to construct a railroad. A lawyer for the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railroad, Thomas Henry Ball, managed to persuade the company to build the line until the downtown of Tomball. Later, a lot of business establishment sprung up near the surrounding area. Initially, the citizens in this area call the place Peck which was the name of the railroad line’s chief civil engineer. But the town changed its name officially on December 2, 1907 as Tom Ball and was eventually lessened to Mr. Ball. After several years the city’s population increased because of the affordable residential areas, pleasant weather, low taxes, and sufficient work opportunities.
